“It's alright, I'm an officer.”

Lakeview Terrace might as well have been a comedy, with neighbors increasingly trying to screw up each other's lives. But the film is anything but a comedy, and it starts with minor teasing but quickly goes from bad to worse. Samuel L. Jackson impresses the most and ensures that the film remains fascinating to watch. Because the story itself isn't special, and Wilson and Washington are very flat and colorless. I can appreciate the ending though.

Average thriller.

Samuel L. Jackson, usually rude but good, puts down a bad guy for a change. The best man doesn't do that badly, and his cast mates do well too, but unfortunately they walk around in a somewhat conscientious thriller that barely reaches mediocrity. Good for keeping up with Jackson's oeuvre during the week, but that's about it for me. As a film, the well of forgetting beckons.

I had recently seen 'The Intruder' from 2019 which reminded me of Lakeview Terrace, which I had seen about 10 years ago.

I still think this is a very good thriller in the genre 'deranged intruder/stalker of a family in a neat neighborhood'. The best in this genre remains for me 'Unlawful Entry' from 1992.

So I can be brief: good acting performances where a Samuel Jackson on a roll stands out. Exciting and never boring. Not even after looking twice.
