just saw it on bbc2 for the first time without knowing anything about the content beforehand; just based on my boundless admiration for Alan Rickman, who passed away earlier this year.

Man man man, except Rickman, the majority of the cast turned out to be in top form, really hard to describe. I enjoyed everything and everyone, was well into it from the beginning and then was sucked in in one go until the end. Fantastic script that is not really predictable anywhere. Food for movie buffs and proof that action isn't necessary to love a movie. Better later than never because the movie was released 10 years ago. And then I haven't said anything about the fascinating portrayal of Sigourney Weaver as an autistic mother... I certainly enjoyed it.

Beautiful, modest film with a beautiful role by Weaver, but Rickman also does an excellent job. A great story with a nice light-hearted atmosphere and interesting characters. It remains a bit superficial, we don't go really deep, I would have liked to know more about Linda. Other than that, just a really good movie.

Not completely convinced by the movie. I have no idea what to think of Sigourney Weaver. Find it a pity that in films an oversimplified and often infantile image about autism is presented. As if it couldn't be more serene, but at least as intense, with a number of minimal situations that are very striking, but at the same time very difficult for people with autism. I missed the person and the feelings behind the person Linda…

Alan Rickman didn't convince me either. Has some great roles, but I don't see a charismatic top actor in it. With his typical accent and intonation he doesn't stop there. Usually comes across as wooden as sullen.

I thought the structure of the film was fine. Warm and understated at times. Solid and entertaining in its entirety, but too little to speak of a topper. Lightheartedness and humor alternate.
