"Indecent exposure is illegal! Even in America, you know!"

For example, the American woman Lorita with the looser morals and quite a lot of lies (her easy virtue, so to speak) is having a very hard time in conservative England. The question is whether she can really always be right. In my eyes she lies and hides too much to arouse sympathy. At the end of the film she manages to give a definition of love, which I think is far too simplistic and which is not discussed further to make it a plausible one. In short, I don't find it believable enough.
However, all this makes it an ordinary human portrait with average family vicissitudes.
I think the story is too casual and too messy to be captivating.

Furthermore, a beautiful English film, entirely in a twenties look. The images are beautiful, the actors are equally beautiful. They have clearly cast on appearance, not character. The atmosphere is upper class, as are the dialogues and intonations, although the behavior is not stiff and comes across as modern and pleasant to watch. Backgrounds and locations are also carefully chosen and decorated.
Striking transitions can regularly be seen in images, by projecting them over each other and mixing them. Supporting sound is sparse, but there are many songs to listen to, funny versions of mainstream songs: Sex Bomb, Let's Misbehave and Carwash for example.

A fun comedy, prickly in the dialogues and well acted. Jessica Biel in the lead role, but I think it's Kristin Scott Thomas who steals the show as the cynical, overbearing mother.

Bought at the thrift shop for a small price. I like it for once. A fairly entertaining story, not very romantic, and the humor is not quite my thing, but doable. Good acting. The playing time is neither too long nor too short. In terms of costuming and decoration, I think it looks good and beautiful. A 6. 3*
