Lars and the Real Girl plot
"The search for true love begins outside the box."
After several years of loneliness, Lars (Ryan Gosling) comes into contact with Bianca via the internet. Lars absolutely loves her and invites her to meet his family. Once at this meeting, the family gets the fright of their lives, because Bianca is not a real person but a doll. But Lars sees her as a real partner. On the advice of a care provider, the family goes along with it and that leads to the most strange situations.

Because of the somewhat difficult fact this film was left aside for ten years. Until someone recommended it to me as one of the funniest movies ever.
Well, I completely miss that. I found it especially long-winded, and I couldn't catch myself even a faint smile. And to make matters worse, I found the images faded and ugly, the decor and locations annoyingly frumpy - perhaps in function of the story, but no less ugly for that. That there is decent acting, well, I would have preferred to see these actors in another film.
So, sorry. Not for me.

Normally not a fan of films where not much attention has been paid to the audiovisual aspect, but in this case the other parameters (ie plot, characters and especially acting performance) manage to compensate sufficiently.
Especially a beautiful role for Gosling of someone who suffers from delusions, in which he manages to appear sympathetic without falling into the trap of the crazy. And that's nice. Many more great roles, but Clarkson as the doctor in particular stood out for me.
In the end, I didn't find the film so much comical, although it certainly has dry elements, but especially heartwarming with how everyone cares for the main character. How the end of the film is knitted ultimately also feels logical and satisfying, and that is sometimes lacking in these kinds of films with a separate premise like this one. 3.5*.

Fine.
Gosling in a different role this time, and he's certainly not wrong. Too bad this movie doesn't seem to try very hard to make it all so special outside of the story. Admittedly, the idea is original, but still.
Gosling plays well, but you can't really sympathize with him, the family around him didn't seem very convincing to me and indeed, it's all too sweet. Visually not much to experience, but an entertaining scene every now and then.
I didn't have to laugh but I did have some emotional connection with Lars, although it was only towards the end that I really started to feel it. I didn't like this movie at all, but it was fun to watch once.
