"If you really believe, magic will find you"
Jack McCloud is a mysterious drifter who is on a special mission with his gifted dog Betty Jane. On the way he is hit by Jeanne, a young widow. She takes Jack home to let him recover from his injuries. Jeanne is solely responsible for the upbringing of her two sons, Tom and Gunny. Jack restores hope in the family when he and Jeanne fall in love and the boys consider him the father they've always missed. But everyone knows that Jack and his dog have to leave soon. According to Gunny, Betty Jane's boys and their mother each get to make a wish first.
