Still stays away mega cool film by Ryûhei Kitamura with the necessary gore and tension. I've seen this a few times now and always enjoy it. The cast also puts in a strong performance here and the film races past like an express train. I found the ending interesting and gave it something extra.

Positive review.
As far as this kind of pure genre work is concerned, it is always a bit of a wait to see how a revision will turn out. I certainly didn't have full confidence in it, but luckily it was not that bad. Kitamura manages to find the right balance between his own typical style and commercial Hollywood horror.
Although it must also be said that commercial horror a decade ago was a lot more brutal than it is today. That is actually the most noticeable when watching this film. Obviously missed it, because I could enjoy it again.
CG is a bit overkill, but otherwise beautifully portrayed, Jones is a great killer and the ending is Barker-worthy. Hasn't lost much in all those years, quite the contrary. Now that the horror has become more tame, a film like this comes into its own.

Reasonable slasher, with more quantity than quality in terms of gallons of blood. Here and there it is really too fake. Clive Barker's hand is somewhat recognizable through the horror porn, but it lacks more developed bad guys like in Candyman or Hellraiser, as well as a talking soundtrack. Vinnie Jones is chilling with his primitive bastard and Bradley Cooper plays well.
