Woody Allen.

I actually didn't think it would be a serious murder mystery beforehand, on the other hand it doesn't matter that much. This is a typical Allen movie, where the story is really just an excuse to put him in different situations so he can just do his thing again.

The question is therefore simple: can you stand Allen or not. Because it rattles as usual, the film is full of classic cultural references and there is a certain lightness that ensures that it doesn't get too heavy or serious. But the nervousness makes it a pretty intense film, something that could seriously bother you if you didn't pull it off.

I like Allen, and so does this movie. It's fun and easy to watch, but I don't find it really genius anywhere. Allen is just a bit too classic and ordinary for me, but his nervousness is quite contagious and it makes his films easy to watch. Every now and then that's nice, but I don't think I could watch two in a row.

Find him very variable, especially when he goes outside his habitat, but this is again an old-fashioned topper. Intelligent comedy, witty and strongly acted by all.

A genre film, a pastiche of the traditional crime film, or… a classic Woody Allen: about relationships, about human inability to come together, about the inherent shortcomings of each individual, about neuroses large and small? Right, especially that last one.

This time against the background of an out-of-the-box suspense story in which the differences between man and woman are once again thematized, with New York as both picturesque and macabre. And now even cinematographic history appears in the landscape – Allen in a hall of mirrors, his own apparent nonchalance in contrast with notorious celebrities of the silver screen.

Yes, 'Manhattan Murder Mystery' is laughing, enjoying, relaxing. Good old cinema, yes sir!
