Ruan Ling Yu plot
Center Stage tells the short but eventful and controversial life of Ruan Lingyu, probably the best known star of the Chinese silent film. Ruan, described by some as the Chinese Greta Garbo, gave tragic characters a sensual and sensitive aura. Her own life was in many ways similar to that of the characters she portrayed. She committed suicide in 1935 at the age of 25.
