The Transporter plot

"Rules are made to be broken."

At first sight, ex-military Frank Martin leads a quiet life as a foreigner in the south of France. However, this is only apparent, because Frank has specialized in delivering all kinds of parcels, without questioning their contents. Thanks to his iron discipline and strict rules, he manages to keep his activities secret from the police. One day Frank discovers that his latest package contains a gagged young girl and he has a very hard time handing her over to a crime ring just like that.

Remains a wonderful film and still looks fresh and dynamic. With the success of the franchise Fast and the Furious and Luc Besson's Taxi, it was time for a new hero with fast cars. Jason Statham already came into the limelight with Guy Ritchie's films and showed his sense of humor. This also comes in handy as the brushed-down Frank, but he still becomes the new action hero of the 21st century. Not difficult that he can later also be seen in the Expendables franchise. Younger than the older generation with Schwarzenegger, Stallone, JCVD or Chuck Norris. And maybe borrowed some from Jackie Chan. Not in terms of fighting style, but the use of various attributes. The oil scene in particular is legendary.

At the wheel is a golden trio. Directed by Corey Yuen, who was still in the company of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Luc Besson knows how to bring the right dose of a fascinating hero with the necessary action and the right humor, who previously worked with Taxi, Léon and Nikita. And of course cinematographer Pierre Morel, who provides a warm summer glow and brings the dynamics to the film. His first film as a cinematographer, by the way, but later he would also show that style as a director in Banlieue 13 and Taken, among others. Appropriate montage that ensures a stylish Frank and flashy montage during chases and fights.

Hilarious nonsense with a perfect Statham for this. There are several spectacular fight scenes, Matt Schulze is a nice villain, and the film is fortunately not too long. Excellent entertainment from thick wood to sawing planks.

Statham makes a more relaxed impression than usual and that is one of the reasons why this is one of his best films. He plays Frank Martin [Jason Statham], a transporter who is willing to transport everything for the right price and wants to know as little as possible about what he has to transport and for whom. For his next job he gets $40,000 and when he drives 250 kilometers through France to drop off a package. Along the way, he discovers that something special is going on with his package and feels compelled to break his rigid rules, knowing that doing so will endanger himself and his 'package'. The story is, of course, nothing more than an excuse for car chases and some fantastic action scenes, with a personal favorite being a showdown in a bus depot with a key role for a bicycle.
