"A breakthrough that changed the face of medicine. A unique partnership that broke the rules."
The story of a heart surgeon and a lab technician who bring about a medical revolution. Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas form a brilliant team, achieving great results in cardiac surgery. However, Blalock is white and rich, while Thomas is a poor, black, retrained carpenter whose dream of becoming a doctor was shattered by the Great Depression. Despite their mutual success, their different backgrounds threaten to drive them apart.
