Het Oog boven de Put plot

The Eye Above the Well is an impressionistic personal account in three volumes about urban and rural life in the South Indian state of Kerala. Together, the parts show how tradition and modernization relate to each other in present-day India. The first part shows how knowledge transfer mainly takes place within the context of family life. In the middle part, Van der Keuken travels with a small investment banker, who visits the people whose money he manages. In the last episode, the director and cameraman focuses his lens on the school of ritual and magic, which takes place within the four walls of a professional training course, shielded from the hectic Indian street scene.
