I had seen this movie once before, but I couldn't remember much about it that I decided to watch it again last night. I also don't understand why I said earlier that I couldn't laugh about it, because I did.

It's just a fun, fresh family movie. Not too much 'fuss' but just mind to zero and enjoy. Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt deliver a nice role. Hilary Duff was also fun in her role, as were the rest of the kids. I think the most important thing about a movie like this is that you can laugh. And I did. Especially at times when those kids puke under the floor or that bouncy castle gets blown up. I even sympathized a bit with that Mark and his frog. I certainly had fun with it.

3.5*

“Twelve kids... That's nuts.”

Heartwarming film about a family with twelve children. When they have to move to the big city, problems arise. The older actors do well, but the show is stolen by the kids (Alyson Stoner is especially nice). The film certainly comes into its own if they oppose the move. The chaotic life with twelve children is convincing in any case. I got tired just looking at it. The sentimental ending should come as no surprise.

funny.

Shawn Levy is a director who has clearly always aimed at a slightly younger, but not too young audience. In it he carries a quite stable position. Can regularly direct projects with a more than decent budget. Sometimes his films are mediocre, but this film can be called pleasant.

I actually saw the remake a lot earlier so I thought I had a reasonable indication of what to expect, but actually this movie turned out very different than I thought. Both films carry the same concept; a family with an incredible amount of children. However, the remake is a bit more social, this film is rather full of entertainment.

And the film does that quite well, although Martin always continues to play roles that are very easy for him. This role is not really different, except that he is sometimes forced into more dramatic positions that a role like this carries with it. Levy has always understood the combination of drama and comedy, but here the more serious side is ignored for a long time.

Still, the film has plenty of fun moments, although none really make a lasting impression. What I also regretted was that I only got to know a few children a little better. A lot of children are pushed to the background. Some get a problem that is emphasized within three sentences and then we move on again. The concept is a bit too broad to cram into a 98 minute film.

It's simple entertainment. Entertainment that doesn't last too long and has several decent moments, but not a single highlight. I didn't really laugh, I certainly didn't empathize with the film. But I was properly entertained and that seems to be the primary purpose of the film. In general, not too much to complain about, so I can give the film a decent pass.
