The Fear: Resurrection plot

"Morty's back and it's a scream!"

Mike Hawthorne throws a big party for his friends at his uncle's house this Halloween. The celebration is all about black magic. When Mike then performs a traditional ritual with the Indian Crow, the party takes a dramatic turn when suddenly the wooden puppet Morty comes to life and starts slaughtering the crowd one by one.

The first installment was a first-rate monstrosity, so expectations for the sequel were naturally very low. Miraculously, unlike the original, Resurrection did have a few amusing moments. Morty, the murderous wooden puppet, was at least a bit more entertaining in this installment. But otherwise, this film was also top-notch garbage.

Overall, this sequel is more exciting, sensational, and atmospheric than the previous chapter, even if it's sometimes a bit nitpicky. The outcome of The Fear: Resurrection isn't particularly remarkable, with several utterly abysmal performances and a complete downgrade from Morty himself. This creature now possesses the power to talk (one-liners, that is) and, especially in the last half hour, descends into a typically clichéd villain, while the first installment still made an attempt to establish him as unique. Moreover, the concept gets rather watered down under all the substantive bombast, and it takes almost half the film before the (wooden) puppets start dancing, but the festive atmosphere is infectious, and it all looks a bit tighter.
