Bloodline Killer plot

Moira Cole's life is turned upside down when her husband is brutally murdered at the hands of her deranged and obsessed cousin, Lee Morris. A year later, he is still on the run and Moira lives a quiet life with her sons in a suburb. However, she is constantly reminded of her past by a popular horror film series that comes out every October and is about her life. When new murders occur, Moira suspects that her cousin has returned.

Of course, director Ante Novakovic comes up with a gruesome title, but his execution leaves a lot of stitches unfinished. Bloodline Killer comes across as too tame and simple, with a very ugly visual execution. The film fails to create any form of tension or atmosphere to increase the pace, in fact the best scene is already introduced with the opening itself. The mystery is uninteresting, the characters are boringly designed and the murderer makes a simplistic impression. What could have saved the film a little are bloody murders, but Novakovic disappoints in that respect too. Equally incomprehensible is how many plot points are actually given away very early on, so that the characters are constantly chasing mysteries that have already been visually solved for the viewer. It creates an impatient feeling that persists throughout the film. Still points for the opening and the solid acting of Shawnee Smith and Taryn Manning, but that's about it.
