La Promesse Verte plot

Teacher Carole's life is turned upside down when she hears the news that her son Martin, who is pursuing a doctorate in Indonesia, has been arrested in Borneo. He is charged with drug smuggling, a crime punishable by death. Carole is convinced of his innocence and discovers that he witnessed crimes committed by palm oil producers that will result in a mock trial. Mother and son find themselves in direct opposition to the companies involved.
