I've never been into Kung Fu Panda, so I didn't really care for this fourth part. It is spectacular indeed. There is no shortage of action, fights and chases. At times I thought it was an overkill of action. There are few rest points.

By the way, I thought it was strange for the red panda to assign Po a different role. Of course it is then predictable who that should be. The scene in that inn was still nice and those three bunnies in that robbers' den were also nice. Furthermore, I thought it was quite mediocre.

The kids enjoyed it though and that's what counts. Perhaps not bad overall, but it is not very innovative.

So it's a short time to wait. The characters are the biggest asset and the voice work is also really good. It's just a shame that the story itself is not very interesting and that it is all so busy and shouty. The action scenes in particular are not very special in that regard. 2.5*.

Po [Jack Black] enjoys his status as a Dragon Warrior, until his mentor Shifu [Dustin Hoffman] makes it clear that he must find a worthy successor. That mission is interrupted by the evil plans of The Chameleon [Viola Davis], causing Po to form a fragile alliance with Zhen [Awkwafina], a thief who has just tried to steal his staff. Po's fathers Li [Bryan Cranston] and Mr. Ping [James Hong] are worried about their son and decide to follow him. Black and Awkwafina are a nice comedic duo and some nice visual gags make up for the lack of originality in the story.
