Liu Ma Gou Shi Wu Hao plot
In 1953, martial law was declared in Taiwan. The White Terror, the period in which any form of criticism was punished, lasted more than 40 years. This story is about female "thought prisoners" who are imprisoned on Green Island, a penal colony off the east coast of Taiwan. They are only allowed to leave their barracks for re-education courses and forced labour, but they cannot stop thinking. When the authorities force the prisoners to 'voluntarily' display their imposed patriotism - they have to sign in blood and have anti-communist tattoos applied - they revolt.
