Wonderful short film that was nominated for an Academy Award. A cross between Groundhog Day and an ode to black Americans like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor who were murdered by police officers. The concept of Groundhog Day has been applied before, but it fits here. A film that is full of hidden symbols if you look closely. Due to the somewhat light concept, this is a very accessible film. At the same time, it manages to tell so much in half an hour, without really preaching.

Just no. The time loop principle is known and can still be implemented nicely. However, this will be a very politically 'colored' film, completely from the point of view of BLM supporters. George Floyd all over and is also literally mentioned. The white man is angry and racist and the black man the victim. We know. For a moment it seems like they are having an -equally toe-curling- good conversation, but even then he is shot -now for no reason at all. Makes no sense at all. This whole subject is one big time loop, over and over again. But in the US they love this (Oscar...)

This film was a great watch. Especially because of the short running time, this film did not have the chance to repeat itself endlessly, even though the film is about, yes, an endless repetition. The 'Groundhog Day' principle, but with a serious undertone. In itself a perfectly digestible concept, only the emphasis is placed a bit too much on what happened at the time in the US, with George Floyd. It therefore felt a bit too much like a commercial or campaign film against police violence in America, and not so much like a feature film. Of course, these two things can go together, but unfortunately for me it detracted from the film.

Still, I'm open to more of these serious 'Groundhoggers'.
