In 2014, 276 Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram. More than three years later, after negotiations with the Nigerian government, more than 100 of the girls were released. The makers of this film were given exclusive access to the rescued girls and followed their lives over the past year, showing them how to adjust to life after their traumatic captivity. The film also follows some of the "Forgotten Girls" in the Northeastern city of Maiduguri, who share deeply shocking stories of their kidnapping and treatment by the terrorist group and their poignant escape stories.
