André Hazes was one of the most popular interpreters of the Dutch-language life song. Cinematographer John Appel closely followed the Amsterdam singer for this film. He attended performances, went back to his home in Amsterdam with his protagonist and observed Hazes with his wife and two children in his current home on the water. Impressive, as he was you saw him here. Too bad nobody even told Andre how much he actually drank, you saw him deteriorate unfortunately. I believe he was a sweet caring man who loved his family very much.
