The Hired Hand plot
"Peter Fonda is riding again... To the woman he lost... for the revenge he craves!"
Adventurers Harry (Peter Fonda) and Arch (Warren Oates) set out to settle in a deserted New Mexico town for good and they look for work. Harry is hired on a ranch by his ex-wife Hannah (Verna Bloom), whom he had abandoned seven years earlier, but the loyalty to his comrade Arch is strong.

Quite a nice western by Peter Fonda. The story is wafer-thin and therefore not much happens in the film, but all in all it goes its way and is still somewhat captivating. It takes some getting used to at first and the somewhat experimental film style seems a bit strange at first, but fortunately the three main cast members still know how to make something of it and it becomes more and more interesting towards the end.

Good film in which a cowboy returns home after years, wife and child. A simple story in which the renewed love between the man and woman is well developed. This western comes across as dreamy here and there. A quiet, pleasant pace and a nice atmosphere (also because of the music). Not a bad directorial debut by Peter Fonda.
