Very entertaining piece of youth sentiment and also a cult classic not to be taken seriously.

Let's be honest in terms of story, dialogue and acting, it's not all that good. The enemies fall by the bunch even if Arnie shoots the other way, when he blows up the complex you just see uniformed dolls with a wooden handle in the back to hold them up, mannequins were definitely overpriced and later you see the mechanics that launches people into the air after an explosion. Still, none of that matters, in fact, it's the charm of the film. Just like the mistakes like when Arnie turns over Sully's Porsche which is suddenly undamaged, or when he rips the seat out of the chair and sits very low. Yet all the recordings after that no one is as low as the first time.

Well it doesn't really matter. A delightfully slightly comical action film is presented to you with the necessary spectacle. The scene creative with garden tools is beautiful. The brawl with Bill Duke in the hotel room is also great, as are all the wrong one-liners. The bevy of bad headlines featuring Bill Duke, Vernon Wells, David Patrick Kelly and Dan Hedaya is just as fun. Some pretty cool action scenes make you forget the artificial sticky scenes between Arnie and Milano in the beginning, but well, that's actually part of the film.

Fun entertainment, humor, and lots of bullets and beaten up people.

So smooth and fun that you can never be annoyed for too long by the amount of cold. And the unintentionally funny things also give the film added value somewhere:

-the Nutella moments in the beginning with my daughter (that music!);

-the psycho laugh of Alyssa Milano when daddy has just committed a brutal murder;

-the dolls when blowing up those houses;

-the just wrecked but suddenly cool yellow Porsche that drives away;

-the hefty dose of muscle porn (wearing the tree trunk, getting out of the plane in underpants, then rowing to put the torso to work...).

Nice to see anyway:

-the classic gearing up scene, with all those weapons and camouflage, great, why don't they do this anymore;

-a body count of I got you there;

-the amount of scenes in which Schwarz is demonstratively a Hercules;

-good stunts (and yes Schwarz is not such a moron as Tom Cruise who wants to do everything himself and always risks the production enormously);

-lots of humor, especially with Chong, which sets the right tone;

-Rae Dawn Chong was the multi culti candy of the 80's and has not really been surpassed;

-The hefty Bill Duke was allowed to work with Schwarzenegger again in the superior Predator a few years later;

- Tiny roll of Bill Paxton;

-the one-armed man (I don't know how they could have filmed it otherwise);

- the work shed which is fully utilized in that scene.

Lots of negatives of course, I've always thought that Bennett wasn't a full-fledged opponent and how he lets himself be fucked in a clumsy way at the end is really too rude. The chubby Aussie actor wasn't physically tight enough although he plays it nice over the top. Those kills in the beginning aren't consistent either. The first, Duke wants to make sure he's really dead in an exaggerated way. The second could have easily survived without Duke checking. There are many flaws in the film, but the pace and humor make up for it.

I feel bad for that guard in that office, where Arnie just pops in to read the map. I can already see one such theater agent calling that actor:

"Herman, there's work for you!"

- 'Oh, tell me?'

'It's an action movie called 'Commando'. Starring nobody

less than Arnold Schwartzenegger!

- 'What do you say? With a black negro?'

"No man, it's Schwartzenegger!"

- 'Well, that's what I like! And do I have another scene with him?'

'Absolutely! All alone with him!'

- 'Great! A lot of text?'

"Nah... Not much... Are you doing it?"

- 'Sure! Who wouldn't want to be in a movie with Arnie!'

'Great, then I'll pass on your name. The script is half A4!'

- 'Bring it on!'

In the end, Herman is in the picture for exactly five seconds. with a shovel

in his balls, an elbow thrust to his chin and like a dishcloth in a closet

thrown. With probably three months hospital and 6 months rehabilitation.

Beautiful role!
