OK.

But somehow quite a disappointment. I secretly hoped for another incredible surprise like Revenge. Somewhere it seemed to be heading in that direction, but where that film could go wild, it still largely kept the brakes on. Kind of a shame.

But also somewhat understandable. It is very clear that this film was shot on a small budget. Everything is actually going in the direction that little money has been invested, despite the best attempts to make it all look good.

The setting is quite successful. Beautiful and atmospheric images, where a slow pace is part of something. Revenge did it too, and this one seemed to follow the same lines. Unfortunately, this film can never really go off without a hitch.

Although it is still quite rough at times, it is clear that Richardson is inexperienced in the action profession and it seems that she has done little training to make it all a bit more convincing. But luckily she does her best and her acting strength is a bit higher.

The images are beautiful and the film, despite a somewhat rough start, does not get boring quickly. It's always interesting and often the tone is unpredictable and quite crude. This makes the film interesting to watch again and towards the end you get a kind of action final phase. It's not boring, but it is clear that budgetary restrictions are a killer here.

Rudderless. It takes a while for this film to pick up speed. There's quite a bit of meandering throughout and the story doesn't seem to go anywhere at first. About nothing more than a young woman and two other survivors who must constantly protect their very limited water supply in a post-apocalyptic world after a climate disaster. But there was a welcome hard edge... the confrontations are merciless and brutal, and the atmosphere seems to come mainly from the western genre. Not enough to raise the film above average, actually, but the second part of the film was more than what I was waiting for...
