Quite surprised by this film.

28 Days/Weeks Later were good movies, but this one is clearly a few levels higher.

Visually I also thought it was really cool.

Looking forward to Part 2, which will be released next year

It's weird that this + part 3 are made by Danny Boyle & part 2 by Nia DaCosta.

Nia DaCosta hasn't really made a convincingly good film for me yet, but we'll see

Evening at the cinema!

Danny Boyle comes up with a refreshing approach considering the previous parts. The location is moved to the beautiful natural forests and the infected have also undergone an evolution. Cool choices and of course the film has quite a few strong bloody scenes. Trump card is the excellent soundtrack! Too bad about the unsatisfactory ending, especially the elaboration of which does not exactly fit in this film. Maybe this will become clearer in the sequel. 7.5/10

Visually I was never a big fan of the first one. 28 weeks later was already a bit toned down and that's why I could digest it better. After a review this week it was now 28 years later's turn. And for the first half Boyle is 100% convincing. The settlement feels logical with the society that has been built up and the atmosphere once on the mainland feels incredibly gloomy and oppressive. The score from the trailers comes back well and it is actually a complete homerun.
Then the second half of the film begins and it is mainly about the search for the truth and a cure for Spike. In itself all well done and it is not entirely illogical. But the tone is suddenly so different that you get a film with two faces. And a big mega dick of a Neanderthal infected. Not to mention those Power Rangers at the end. In itself it makes me curious about a sequel, but with 28 Years Later I would have wanted a complete focus on the father/son and the horror part and then this mix.
