The first 4 episodes is Feuten meets GTST. After that it gets a little more interesting and better. Feels like all kinds of interesting concepts and ideas have been mixed together too quickly, making it seem like a mixed bag instead of an original and unique product. Even the Harry Potter-esque music was not lacking at one point. Gameplay was not more than reasonable across the board (surprisingly mediocre even for a Dutch production), although the dialogues and sentences that the characters had to utter didn't help either. A little Bassie & Adriaan level now and then to take the story further. Image also remarkably dark, a special choice if you have such a wealth of locations. Fascinating concept all in all, but feels too fleeting and unsteady in the execution.

Shockingly bad series.

It doesn't happen very often but at the end of episode 8 I caught myself making boo noises to my TV. The annoyance was so deep that I had to scream out in frustration.

It's hard to explain what's so terrible about this series because as a viewer I was systematically wondering who could come up with so much nonsense. I think the biggest miss is the scenario and especially the lack of it. None of the characters have any depth and the dialogues are nothing more than empty one-liners that are really about nothing. The absolute low point is the last episode where being a Woke so trendy these days is pulled out of the closet.

Due to the total lack of tension or depth, there is no bond with the characters anywhere. Nobody is sympathetic and you as a viewer will also worry about what will happen to them.

But what is most shocking is the pretentious nature of this series. There is no glimmer of perspective in it and in all its deep seriousness it just becomes extra laughable and very shocking.

You can especially feel sorry for the actors. Nobody comes out on top because there are hardly any characters that matter. In any case, lead actress Jade Olieberg is not convinced and is especially annoying and unsympathetic. Only Lisa Smit could just get through it, but that was mainly because she was the only one who showed some frustration about the stupidity of the screenplay.

Don't get me wrong I was very curious about the first fully Dutch Netflix series and wanted it to be something good because at least an attempt is made to bring something original but it becomes even more painful if this is one of the worst series that the Netherlands has ever produced.

Oh and Ramses Shaffy is turning in his grave.

Painfully bad!

In itself positive that they have ventured on such a subject. The acting level is certainly reasonable by Dutch standards. Unfortunately, in many scenes the lighting is so dark that it is at the expense of the experience, it suggests that they want to disguise a few things. The story develops without too much tension, but I round it up to a tight enough. *3.0
