This series is set in Manhattan, 1958. Miriam "Midge" Maisel has everything her heart desires: a perfect husband, children and an apartment on the Upper West Side. But then her perfect life suddenly changes and Midge has to start over. She discovers she has a hidden talent that makes her go to all the comedy clubs in Greenwich Village and even get to see Johnny Carson.

After Superman, Mrs. Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) is the greatest Jewish superhero. For five seasons, I enjoyed that strange mix of contemporary cynicism with old-fashioned screwball comedy. Visually, everything is right: the lively sets full of extras, Midge's immense wardrobe and the many references to popular culture from that time. The series is often style over substance, because after the fantastic first season, the tension arc runs out a bit too often. It is more like loose sketches with some continuity than a flowing whole. But does it really matter? 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' managed to enchant me every time with its immensely charismatic title character and the magic of nostalgic street scenes. It even made me a bit sad that I had to leave this world when the final episode showed fragments of those all-too-familiar sets.
