The House of Eliott plot
Sisters Beatrice and Evangeline Eliott are orphaned after the death of their tyrannical father, Henry Eliott. Their father leaves them penniless and without any education and they are forced to sell the house. They have to look for work and despite their lack of education, Beatrice lands a job as a secretary for photographer Jack Maddox. Through an aunt, Evangeline gets a job in the sewing workshop of a fashion house. Both sisters have a lot of talent for designing and making clothes. They sew in their spare time to earn extra money, with help from Tilly Watkins. Later, with financial help from Jack Maddox, they manage to open their own fashion house: The House of Eliott.
