Northern Exposure plot

dr. Joel Fleischman graduates from Columbia Medical University thanks to a scholarship from the state of Alaska. He was promised a place in the big hospital in Anchorage, but instead he has to go to the small town of Cicely. His scholarship is now a student loan that he has to pay off with his work there as a general practitioner. It's a remote place, the people are strange and quirky and he really wants to go back to New York
