1988: Major Anna Bersz leads the police investigation into four gruesome murders. At the same time, psychiatrist Agnieszka Grabska examines the mental state of the prime suspect. The extreme pressure of the political and legal system places such a severe strain on the friendship between the two women that it leads to a definitive break. 26 years later, in 2014, Bersz and Grabska's paths cross again when the perpetrator, convicted back then, may be released. The renewed confrontation forces them to critically reconsider their past choices and decisions.
