Cobra Kai plot

Cobra Kai is set 30 years after the events of the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1984. Johnny Lawrence is about to reopen his infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. This rekindles his old rivalry with Daniel LaRusso, who is trying to live his life without his mentor Mr. miyagi.

This season is a bit better than the last, but the basics of competitive teen dojos and accompanying escalations have become quite infantile after the first season.

Now I don't want to take that too much, because the old films weren't that serious and well thought out. And it is precisely in bringing back that original atmosphere in a modern approach that this series has succeeded well.

It's also great that they apparently managed to get the entire original (still living) cast.

Season 3 follows a similar structure to season 2, although the balance between fight scenes and teenage drama is a bit more stable. Still, as a viewer you miss a certain spark within the finale and it simply takes too long before Miguel is back on his feet (literally). Some parts are well written, the acting is solid and there is more than enough development, but you still miss some form of distinction and/or tension. There are too many moments that are not particularly interesting and are nevertheless drawn out for a long time. A good example of this is that Tanner Buchanan has to serve too long in jail.
