Special series. Rivals from a more than 30-year-old movie, The Karate Kid, return with the same actors to continue their feud.

The humor is sparingly dosed but always spot on. Furthermore, many characters are quite well developed, nobody is black and white. So it doesn't matter who you sympathize with, Johnny or Daniel (actually I like both and that's a compliment to the series).

The teen level is sometimes too high and unfortunately is ramped up a bit over the course of the season. The best scenes are always with Johnny or Daniel.

On the other hand, on the other hand, the series is anything but politically correct. There is a lot of fun here and there with braver series and the snowflake generation.

There are actually two attitudes to life contrasted, the aggressive of Cobra Kai and the more peaceful, harmonious taught by the late Miyagi. Without pointing a finger at what is right or wrong, you can happily think about that for yourself. Everyone makes mistakes and has good and bad sides.

The pace is quite high, considerable jumps are made here and there. The episodes also last only half an hour but usually quite a lot happens. Not too much rambling and stretching, very refreshing.

The karate is also well portrayed, but do not expect cartloads with action. The development of the characters is where the most attention is paid. And luckily there are also characters who have little to do with karate and who can put things into perspective. Because in the end it is also a sport where 1 bastard with 1 violation can make your kneecap rotten for the rest of your life, as someone I knew told me.

Cobra Kai is the sequel to the Karate Kid Trilogy. Daniel-San is now an adult and thanks to Mr. Miyagi's wise lessons, he has become a successful businessman with multiple dealerships. He is happily married and has two children. His teasing spirit from part 1 Johnny Lawrence has fared a lot less. Johnny has become a loser to say the least. Johnny lives in a crappy apartment where he spends his days mostly drinking and thinking about the past when he was King Of The Hill and Ali was still his girlfriend. To earn a living he is a handyman but he is mainly from 12 jobs 13 accidents. When his car is totaled, his car is brought to Daniel's garage. This brings the two back together on the radar and that is the start of new events. Cobra Kai is above all a reunion with all the old acquaintances. The producers really bring back everyone who has had a significant role in the Karate Kid movies from Daniel's mother to John Kreese! Just not Mr Miyagi and Sato as both actors are deceased. This makes it a feast of recognition for fans of the films, but at the same time they have also cast enough new actors not to make it a simple repetition of moves. The series Cobra Kai is therefore very successful and even if you have never seen a Karate Kid film, it is easy to follow. Recommended!

Very entertaining. The combination of styles (80s retro, martial arts, teen drama, modern comedy) works wonderfully. Not everything is great and deep, but that's not a bad thing, great binge material.
