Several American presidents and their families are described through the eyes of the black servants in the White House. Lillian Rogers Parks has worked at the White House for three decades and has lived through eight different presidential families; from Taft to Eisenhower. Every president has his own rules and customs that force maids, assistants, servants, doormen and other workers to constantly adapt, whether they like it or not.
