Alt Du Elsker plot

In recent years, Norway has been startled more often by violence from the extreme right, perpetrated by white, young Norwegians. This series looks at why these men are radicalising, just not in the usual way. So it's not about a 'crazy guy who everyone hates anyway', it's a love story. A student runs into the boy she loved so much at summer camp years earlier and falls in love. She discovers much too late that he has now been radicalized and that he spends his evenings on extreme right-wing forums.

Alt du Elsker / Everything you Love begins as a young adult love story. In 7 episodes of just over 22 minutes (truly a mini-series) it quickly becomes clear that a lot has changed since the summer camp where Sara (Mina Dale) and Jonas (Jakob Fort - Wisting) met. The different storylines are nicely intertwined, and remain mysterious or surprising for a long time. Creator Marie Hafting (co-responsible for the excellent Mellem Os / Between Us) ensures that the pure main characters contrast with the bitter reality.

Furia, also Norwegian, is also about right-wing extremism and is perhaps a fraction better. Alt du Elsker falls just short of making a deep impression on a dramatic level. But the young actors are convincing in their role (note Hibba Najeeb as friend Hina), the pace is fine and the plot believable. Radicalization is a social process. Alt du Elsker exposes that flawlessly.
