The wealthy Australian Bligh family lives on the Ash Park estate in the picturesque village of Inverness in New South Wales. Sarah Adams, an attractive nurse with a mysterious past, returns to her native Australia after 20 years from England. She wants to leave the misery of the war years behind her and start over. During her journey aboard the ship, a dramatic event involves her in the fortunes of the Bligh family. Elizabeth holds sway over the family dynasty and doesn't like Sarah much. Much to Elizabeth's dismay, her eldest son George falls for Sarah's charms
