Reviews & comments

The superlative in nature documentaries. The first series from 2006 was groundbreaking and majestic, but pales in comparison to the visual splendor shown here. The quality of the recordings is truly breathtaking and regularly provides goosebumps. Of course, we have seen almost everything in terms of content before, in that respect this second series is less impressive, but that is more than made up for by the impressive and often very intimate recordings. The first two episodes are especially beautiful. And of course all this is provided with the great voice-over of David Attenborough. Who else.

Wonderful documentary series, in which I have seen animals and situations that I have never seen on my screen before. Scenes that have particularly stuck with me: the lizard being chased by dozens of snakes, a frog protecting its eggs and a gigantic plague of locusts. The makers know how to portray the animals beautifully and build up the tension well. What The Oceanic Six already says is that the episodes do fly back and forth, there is no red line and some scenes are just a bit too long or too short.

When I read that the sixth episode would take place in the cities, I couldn't imagine anything positive about it. Let this be one of the better episodes of the series. Great to see people and nature so close to each other in some cities. David Attenborough's message at the end was also beautiful: embrace nature in the cities and it will make the world a lot more beautiful.

Don't forget to watch the making of specials for all episodes, especially the first episode about the penguins.
