Henk van der Aa and Jessica Villerius are researching the latest insights into femicide, attempting to paint a complete picture of these crimes. They interview survivors, children of victims, and perpetrators, among others. The series demonstrates that intimate partner killings are often the culmination of a predictable process that can be recognized in eight phases. It paints a disturbing picture of how years of manipulation, oppression, and physical and emotional violence are intertwined, ultimately leading to murder through an almost fixed pattern.
