Poketto Monsutâ plot

The series follows the boy Ash from the village of Pallet Town. When he turned ten, he was allowed to become a Pokémon trainer for the first time and collect his first Pokémon from Professor Oak. But he oversleeps and arrives too late to choose from one of the starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle). Because he really wants to start his Pokémon journey, Professor Oak eventually gives him a Pokémon: Pikachu. However, this Pokémon is not exactly obedient and it will be a difficult task for Ash to gain his trust. Professor Oak gives Ash a PokéDex, an electronic encyclopedia containing data on all currently occurring Pokémon from the Kanto region. Along the way, Ash meets a girl named Misty. After an affair, the two have a difficult relationship, but they decide to become travel companions. In Pewter City, Ash competes with gym leader Brock and wins the battle. Brock also decides to go with Ash and leaves his gym with his father. Together with Pikachu, the three set off for the Indigo League on the Indigo Plateau.

Ik volg de serie al jaren niet meer, maar als liefhebber van de franchise en vanwege de nostalgie kijk ik altijd de eerste aflevering als er een nieuwe regio wordt geïntroduceerd. Zo ook bij seizoen 20, waarin de regio Alola uit de Sun & Moon games centraal staat. Dit seizoen lijkt een soort reboot te zijn, maar ook weer niet. Ash woont weer bij zijn moeder (zo kwam het op mij over), de stijl is anders en Ash begint weer met enkel zijn Pikachu. Er zijn nog wel verwijzingen na eerdere seizoenen (Ash vertelt bijvoorbeeld dat hij een groep Tauros bezit), dus het is niet helemaal een reboot. Ik vond de eerste aflevering in ieder geval prettig wegkijken. De Alola regio is totaal iets anders en ik denk dat de makers met het feit dat Ash dit seizoen op een school zit en niet constant rondreist iets heel anders willen neerzetten. Met bovenstaande link is de serie hier in ieder geval makkelijk te volgen, dus wellicht in de toekomst proberen de serie verder te kijken.

I haven't followed the series for years, but as a fan of the franchise and for the nostalgia I always watch the first episode whenever a new region is introduced. This is also the case with season 20, in which the Alola region from the Sun & Moon games is central.

This season seems to be a reboot of sorts, but then again it isn't. Ash lives with his mom again (that's how it happened to me), the style is different and Ash starts again with just his Pikachu. There are still references after previous seasons (Ash says he owns a group of Tauros, for example), so it's not quite a reboot.

Anyway, I really enjoyed watching the first episode. The Alola region is something completely different and I think with the fact that Ash is in a school this season and not constantly traveling around, the creators want to create something completely different. With the link above, the series is in any case easy to follow here, so maybe try to watch the series further in the future.
