For a series that has had to deal with budget cuts and uncertainty about whether it would continue, we still got a worthy conclusion. It's like a final season should be: loose ends are wrapped up and the carefully constructed conflicts come to a rock-solid conclusion. What made Damages attractive to me for five seasons is that each season has a new top cast wearing it. Here Ryan Phillipe is very endearing as the kind of handsome Julian Assange with his own organization. But ultimately the tension between Glenn Close and Rose Byrne is again the heart of the series. Maybe not as exciting and surprising as the first season ever was, but at least they managed to close it satisfactorily. That last shot certainly went through my marrow and bone.
