It's amazing how a series about a fucking royal family, something that usually doesn't interest me at all, can be so captivating.

It can hardly be made better than this, there is clearly a lot of money behind it because every detail has been thought of and every scene looks like a picture.

Fantastic acting by all the actors.

In the same vein from last season. In this season the focus is on the relationship troubles of the queen, which I was not really familiar with, so that was interesting. A number of episodes stand out: Marionettes in which it hints how far away the royal family is from the common people. The Queen's speech in which she talks about the monotonous existence of the worker is almost reminiscent of the radio sketch During Closure by the Men of the Radio. Also nice in that episode is Philip's commentary on the queen's new haircut, something he seems to have actually said. Dear Mrs. Kennedy because of Jackie Kennedy, who was about as old as the Queen. And finally Vergaanheit where the dubious past of Edward VIII is revealed. Of course with all this, the question is how much really really happened, but it all comes across as creamy. The actor who plays Edward VIII is amazing, by the way, as tragic as he can look while living his decadent life. The episode about Philip's (school) past appeals to me less, but it is functional. In the end I arrive at the same figure as the previous season: 3*.

Excellent season, but it's simply not for me. The series continues quietly and doesn't really know anything to surprise you. That's the downside of true and well-known stories. Apart from that, everything about this series is of a very high level: the acting, the sets, costumes, music... Although I don't like Claire Foy as much as Elizabeth myself. This was probably the last I saw of the series, but maybe I'll give the third season another chance.
