Luther plot

For Inspector John Luther, solving crimes is not work. It's a calling. Luther is a brilliant detective, who keeps his own laws and rules and regularly amazes his colleagues with his keen insight. With full dedication he takes on the psychological duel with psychopaths, murderers... and the demons that dwell within himself. For Luther has a troubled mind. At times he is friendly and vulnerable, at other times tough and even violent. Given the latter, some wonder whether he is not primarily driven by an urge to self-destruct. But the only person Luther talks to about such matters is Alice, the beautiful murderess with whom, to his surprise, he feels a kind of connection...

This season I found just a bit less than its 2 predecessors. But all in all a very nice exciting smart and well written series.

Small setback. Luther remains one of the strongest cop shows I've ever seen, but this season does have some flaws. This mainly has to do with the characters. Alice is unbelievable, Justin Ripley is suddenly not the fun character from the previous seasons, Mary is an undeveloped character and Erin Gray is perhaps the most annoying character I've ever seen in a series.

Luckily we still have Idris Elba as John Luther. He once again steals the show and his character is the reason this series works so well. The series knows how to push the boundaries and surprise the viewer. I do hope they get some things right in the next season.
