I do notice a cautious upward trend in the series after the rather disappointing second season.

All new characters have potential, and old acquaintances Silver is actually right on target.

Not a bad choice at all to spread the tournament over the last two episodes, the fights have really gotten better and the stupid school fights are apparently avoided as well.

Better than expected, the series has found some spice again. Again an actor from the film series is taken out of the mothballs (the villain with the tail in part 3) but this works out surprisingly well. Where it became a bit too teenage soap in the second season, the emphasis is now more on karate and bullying at school. The action in the final tournament looks great. The highlight of this is the bitch fight between the girls. The whole series is never boring at all. The fat man in Richard Jewell also gets a separate role in the story. Perhaps the humor that characterized the first season is a bit less, but the characters get enough depth. Even that punk guy I hated the most (I believe he even broke that lanky's arm twice) has become more human. And mentor Kreese has also grown as a man.

The series is, of course, repetitive. Many characters learn to fight well, but their anger does not diminish and monsters are bred again. The more passive Miyagi-do philosophy is not always sacred either. For example, LaRusso is verbally attacked with dirty words about his wife and he learns that "strike first" sometimes really has its merits.

Cobra Kai transcends dumb action series with stuff like that and it's clearly made with so much fun and passion that it never feels like milking. The ending of the final episode has another cliff hanger that holds enough oil for a fiery 5th season. And the first of these will arrive tomorrow so... we don't have to wait long!

A fine continuation of two lesser seasons, with considerably more emphasis on the martial arts themselves. Certainly the second half of this fourth season delivers a number of impressive fights, specifically the fight between Tanner Buchanan and Jacob Bertrand stands out positively. A number of clichés are a bit annoying and not every decision is equally satisfying, but once again the acting is good and the series makes excellent progress visually. In the beginning, this was mainly about lightness, but as the cast members master the martial arts better, the mutual confrontations also improve. The finale is genuinely exciting and the characters go through an excellent development, which optimally invites the viewer to continue watching.
