One of the most surprising success stories in recent horror cinema was the outstanding reception that The Invisible Man received in 2020.
It tells the story of a woman played by Elisabeth Moss who believes she is being stalked and gaslit by her ex-boyfriend, who has somehow found the ability to turn invisible despite apparently passing away.
It was an enormous critical and commercial success, earning a whopping $145 million worldwide against a budget of just $7m.
It was written and directed by Leight Whannell, with Aldis Hodge, Storm Reid, Harriet Dyer, Michael Dorman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen starring alongside Moss.
The success of The Invisible Man inevitably led to speculation about a sequel, and Hodge, for one, is definitely up for returning.
"No, I haven't heard any updates. I know people were talking about it, I was like, 'Who's gonna be the invisible person. Is it gonna be The Invisible Baby? Like what are we doing?' No, I'm kidding," the actor said in a conversation with Screen Rant.
"If they did a sequel, I think that'd be awesome. Leigh Whannell is amazing, working with him was just fantastic, and his sort of knack for suspense and drawing that out. And Elisabeth Moss, she's great. We had a really nice time on that, so yeah, if there was a sequel, I'm definitely down, but I haven't heard any murmurings since."
Will there be The Invisible Man 2?
Producer Jason Blum, director Whannell and star Moss have constantly had to answer questions about a potential sequel.
In July of 2020, it was announced that Whannel was working on a second movie, but updates since then have been few and far between.
Moss previously said about a sequel:
"Look, if people want it that's kind of a big part of what we need in order to do it. So put the word out there that YOU want it and then I'll help!"
