Watched this one today.

This was one of those films I hesitated to buy for a long time, as it seemed far too American in its setup to me. Until... I read an opinion somewhere from someone (I believe on IMDb or Amazon) who came up with the crazy idea that George Lucas had based his first Star Wars film on this Italian western. This seemed so far-fetched and wacky to me that my curiosity was immediately piqued.

To answer this last point immediately: No! That statement is really pure nonsense, although—with a lot of effort—there is indeed a similar kind of revelation about the villain somewhere in there. And that is the only thing!

As for the film itself: very entertaining, although more action and lots of shootouts than a truly captivating story, but very amusing.

Franco Nero is, as always, very good, very cool and tough. The funny thing is that Django was made for it, but here he actually looks younger and slightly less experienced.

The rest of the cast is decent, the villain is good, although the final confrontation might be a little disappointing.

A seven, or 3.5 stars.

Yes, the visuals look stunning, as do Franco Nero's magnificent blue eyes. But this enormous pile of filth holds no other appeal. The story has no specific premise whatsoever; something just has to happen. The dreadful sound mix does little good either.
