Shortly after the end of the American Civil War, ex-serviceman Ben Shelby arrives at the Tallon Ranch in Arizona. Ben is looking for Johnny Tallon, whom he wants to kill. Ben was the only survivor of a battle, due to Johnny Tallon's cowardice. However, he only finds Johnny's blind brother Ned Tallon (who thinks Johnny is a war hero) with his staff on the ranch and he decides to wait for Johnny. Then there are rumors that Johnny was killed during a bank robbery. Local landowner Dave Parker, who is preying on the Tallon Ranch and also lost brothers in the fight due to Johnny deserting, learns of this and sets out to kill Ned. Meanwhile, Navajos led by Chief Brave Bear, who have been told to move to Oklahoma, are on the warpath. Ben and Ned flee from the Navajos and Parker, but find unexpected help.
