Excellent western with a nice cast I thought. Fortunately not too much of that cliché poo poo poo stuff... although classic in content, the film had a deep dramatic layer about remorse, regret and penance. Feelings that in the case of John Henry stand in the way of justice and become a painful dilemma for the man. The baddie roles go to Brian Cox as the land thief and to Aaron Poole as the scum that terrorizes the village. Against my expectations, Wincott played a sympathetic hitman. But also the chemistry between father and son did not leave me untouched at times.

Reasonable film about a man who returns after years to his birthplace and father. A simple story with a predictable course, but you still have to wait until the main character gets out of the spell. An atmospheric western with a fine cast (not least because of father and son Sutherland, who also play father and son here).

Watched it again, and enjoyed it again, even more than last time.

Good cast, good build up.

It's quite possible that I'll watch it again on DVD soon, without those annoying interruptions from TV commercials.

It wasn't my intention to watch the film on TV, but I couldn't get rid of it either, just too captivating.
