Rock hard anti-war film about a tank unit that gets into trouble that is filmed on a beautiful sandy rocky landscape. The story is exciting, and the duration of almost 2 hours, is therefore perfectly doable! The film contains one quite shocking scene. An Afghan man, who is crushed by a tank. The dialogues between the commander and his unit are chilling, and therefore requires the necessary victims The acting was very good , and George Dzundza in particular stood out. The Russian tank commander, who will never give up on his tank, even if it costs the lives of his own unit. Detail: This concerns a Russian tank unit that communicates with each other in the US. However, this was not disturbing to me.

Kaminski: I need a woman!
Golikov: Maybe you'll find another sheep.
Kaminski: Maybe I will!

Very fine war film, I think it is fairly unknown to the general public, but I think it is a very good war film. A nice statement regarding anti-war, it doesn't give a damn how far one goes to get the enemy to talk, the man crushed under the tank, but also that one doesn't care about civilian casualties, the women who be gassed. Then there is a bit of scorched earth tactics. What was Vietnam to the Americans to the Russians, without a doubt Afghanistan. A kind of hatred, not the will to get into customs and the population and declare total war because they not only got the insurgents against them but just the whole country away.

Furthermore, the composition of the tank crew is without a doubt a beautiful image full of contrasts. The youthful and brash ferocity of the one, the idealism of the other and the brutal certainty of the commander who, as a veteran, of course knows how to win a war. This fact quickly leads to tensions and problems.

Also portrayed in all horror and cruelty, not only the war but also life and death in a place like Afghanistan. Looks great and realistic. Fine, fine, beautiful. I love it.

This was, I think, the first movie I saw about a piece of the Russian war in Afghanistan. A small, very small piece with a freaked out tank commander and his "lacquets" cruising around a part of Afghanistan. It already starts well with these five when they choose the right side of the three-fork in the beginning of the film. They drive into a pass and attract the attention of resistance fighters who are then present in the mountains above the pass. After this, a cat and mouse game begins between these two groups.

Humor is absent, despite being an American production but the tension between the 2 groups keeps us in their "play". They were all actors I didn't know and did well. Especially our pinball caught my attention. What a gentleman! Good thing I wasn't sitting as a "lackey" in this tank with this figure. I had him (or he me) kicked out of the tank! Especially after contact with colleagues from the airspace.

I did enjoy myself with the film and it gets a 7 as a rating from me.
