Captured! plot

During the First World War, the American Captain Fred Allison was a prisoner of war of the Germans. It's been two years since he last saw Monica. Fred met Monica in six days before he was sent to the front, married her and they bought a house together. It has also been a long time since Monica has written Fred a letter. After a failed attempt to break out of the POW camp, two things change for Fred. First, his camp gets a new commander. Furthermore, it turns out that his best friend Lieutenant Fred 'Dig' Digby has also been captured. Dig, however, tells Fred very little about Monica. Dig, who is having a love affair with Monica, wants to break up again as soon as possible. One is killed in the outbreak and Dig faces a conviction not only from the Germans, but also from Fred, who has found a letter that Monica has written to Digby.
