Excellent film with a believable story, good acting and camera work, with a claustrophobic effect here and there to pass the ring ... until ... until the shutter opens, after which the case finally derails and very pitifully in the canned clichés ends up.

Excellent start, very weak second half.

Not yet familiar with Anderson, but this week Transsiberian will still be on TV, I can also write down my second experience. So far I know what he is capable of with this, but unfortunately it can't end well.

The first half in particular is simply excellent. You're right into the story, thanks to Berry's good role. Breslin is also in good shape at the age of 17 and knows how to be a good victim. Eklund is also present, and how. A perhaps somewhat exaggerated, but deliciously crazy villain.

The first part is nice and exciting, even holding-your-breath exciting. Very smooth, and shows the role of telephone helpline very well. The chaos, the tension, the way you have to deal with the situation is all convincingly well portrayed. And the speed is pretty good too.

The second piece, unfortunately, is mercilessly weak. At the beginning, a female indicated that the frustrating part of her job is not knowing how the caller will end. So the film goes against that. Then show me why it's so frustrating. It feels like Hollywood again, with too many clichés and a Berry that you can take less and less seriously.

Then you still hope for an exciting or reassuring ending, but this one is even worse. She's actually on the police force, and then kills someone herself. Who's the "good guy" then? Just really stupid, they should have kept Berry's helpline the whole movie. An ending where Eklund is just arrested or something like that would have been much more appropriate.

It's the way it is in the end, the first part gets 4.0* without a doubt, but because of the weak second half with an even weaker ending, I deduct a whole point from it. Shame, this could have been so good.

The Cell has become a decent thriller beyond expectations. Dee dme think about the recent Den Skyldige (2018) or also The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) . Certainly not world-class, but certainly within the genre. The voltage is kept high and you do get some insight into how an emergency center works. The communication was believable and inventive. Halle Berry did well as a receptionist. And for some reason I'm always happy to see Abigail Breslin (the child star from Little Miss Sunshine (2006) at work.

But towards the end it was the best thing off and I had a lot of trouble with the script. The mere fact that Jordan went on an investigative path was a step too far for me. Let alone that in some sort of revenge they leave the kidnapper behind and they start to disguise a simple story. No, that ending is not that successful, otherwise an entertaining film.
