Halbe Welt plot
Deadly rays of the sun make life impossible during the day. As a result, humans are only able to become active at night; during the day they sleep in blinded rooms and take cover from the sun. The film shows different survival techniques in an artificial world: action, love, sex and violence. In the metropolis 'der Halben Welt' a culture flourishes from different languages and life forms. Katz (Dani Levy) a dealer, roams the streets and sells old postcards of beautiful landscapes, of nature long ago destroyed. Herzog (Rainer Egger) stands on the roof of his house with his stopwatch every morning, trying to brave the sunrise. The 'Whites' have a monopoly on 'the past' and develop techniques with which they create illusions for an invisible elite on the basis of old recordings of nature. The 'Blacks' get their hands on these 'illusion machines' and manipulate them. Meanwhile, the residents of 'Halbe Welt' meet in Sunny's (Maria Schrader's) 'daylight' bar.
