Julia Crawley works as a lawyer in New York. To celebrate the holidays, she returns to her hometown in the Rocky Mountains, where her family has run an inn for generations. There she finds herself in the middle of a long-running feud with the Mason family, who run the town's other inn. As competition between the families intensifies, a "forbidden" romance blossoms between Julia and Ryan Mason.
